Thank you! I have a 2015 MacBook Air. One day awhile back it didn’t want to power on. I would get an amber light and was able to get a green light after SMC resets. I put it away in my closet for about 6 months. Today I tried to take another wack at it. Same issue persists, plus the fan started to run crazy loud after reseating power cable and pressing power. Is the fan noise and whatever the issue might be related?

I personally think it’s the power button because even when the thing is on, if I hold the power button it doesn’t turn off. Which leads me to believe that the power button just doesn’t work at any time

I have always own a Dell but purchased a MacBook (December 2016) for my daughter for college ; it’s not exactly 4 years yet. I knew to do all that Was described in this video which I found looking for a permanent solution. What I have learned, if I shut down the laptop or the battery dies, I had to start over just like Kenneth said. However, you can just remove the battery all together. So, when you shut the laptop down or the battery dies, you will only have to disconnect the power cord, reconnect it and hit the space bar instead of taking the back a lose and disconnecting the battery again, I know this defeats the purpose of being mobile and you will have to be plugged in all the time. I’m waiting for a new battery to arrive. If I find a permanent solution, I will definitely share it. I hope this helps

@Kenneth Wayne yeah i comes on after i do it. And then it'll work properly for awhile. It'll charge normally, it'll work on battery normally. But then it'll auto shutdown and I'd have to do the process over again.

Does the adapter light come on now that you've done this? And I think the issue has something to do with the power button on mine. I think it stopped working

If you computer is seemingly on, but the screen is black, try this: shine a bright flashlight on the screen. If you can see the image of the login screen, go ahead and log in. For some reason, this commonly resets the screen brightness.

+Mario Lutas This happens for me sometimes as well. While it's still open, try 1. lifting up the connector again and 2. reconnecting the power adapter and then 3. Pushing the battery connector back down

This is one of 5 different "no power" fix methods.... AND IT DIDN'T WORK FOR MINE.

+Becca Lee That's a fair concern! In short, I don't know of a way to make this method permanent. It's seems the issue, that I show a work- around for here is more related to the power button not working rather than the battery. Because of the way the MacBook Air is designed it's not easy to just replace that one key without major surgery. But, sometimes just connecting the charger will turn the MacBook back on as well, so if it's nearby when the MacBook won't turn on, give plugging it in a shot. Thank you for watching!!
